Figurines by Tanya Davis
Introducing...
Tanya Davis is an independent artist who has gained popularity with her art figurines. Even though she is only able to create art part-time due to having a 'real' job, she is very prolific and makes sure to get her art noticed and interacts with the public. 2013 marked the beginnings of her public appearances when she had her first three local showcases and a gallery display of her figurine art in Austin, Texas. She has also participated in multiple events in Dallas called Vinyl Thoughts representing her signature style to the Urban Vinyl community.
At DesignerCon 2014 in Pasadena, California she featured four 7-inch Yo! figurines to which she had masterfully applied polymer clay and acrylic paint. Three of these Yo! figurines also were displayed at the WizardWorld Comicon 2014 in Austin, Texas. She has painted blocks in the Omni Art House Gallery exhibition in Maryland and has had local gallery and artist collective group shows. She participated in the Summer 2014 event, The Tesla Project at the Art.Science.Gallery in Austin, Texas. In 2015 she participated in the Staple! Independent Media Expo and that is now one of her recurring venues. Locally, you can find her work on display at Monkey See Monkey Do on South Congress and Jerry's Artarama in North Austin. Her work is also accessible on her site gallery and online store.
Most of Tanya Davis' pieces are in the Steampunk style. Sometimes old watch casing and gears she has found are implemented. Fashioned with a combination of gears, jewelry findings and polymer clay such as her series of little figurines that she calls her Steampunk Buddies. Each are hand-made by Davis, no molds, just old-fashioned shaping and detailing by hand.

Beginings to Now
"I have always loved making art since I was old enough to hold a crayon and I never leave the house without a sketchbook in my bag."
Davis received a B.S. in Architecture from Prairie View A&M University, and although Architecture did not become her chosen profession, the lessons she learned continue to strongly influence her attention to detail and form.
Get to know quite a bit of the story of how Tanya Davis came to work with polymer clay and figurines in our collaborative review of the book Steampunkery, which Tanya credits as giving her "the first ideas for steampunk animal figurines"
Always a true natural born artist, she has developed multiple skill sets extending from basic visual arts into ceramic clay sculpture, jewelry making and digital photography.

Tanya's figurines have a really excellent style, and are nicely executed. I love when industrial factors are added to otherwise natural things.
